About the University
The University consists of 9 faculties: Faculty of General Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Prophylaxis, Faculty of Pediatrics, Faculty of Clinical Psychology, International Students Department, Institute of Advanced Medical Training and Continuing Education, Institute of Nursing.
Nowadays the continuous system of the education includes the pre-university training, undergraduate studies for future doctors, pharmacists, clinical psychologists, health managers, postgraduate studies, clinical residency, PhD and continuing education.
Graduates receive a state-recognized diploma, after graduation from the University, indicating higher education and specifying of the degree/qualification and speciality. A graduate, if needed, can get an additional document – “Diploma Supplement”, which allows to obtain the equivalence of a diploma in any country in the world for continuing education or employment.
Graduates receive internationally recognized ‘Diploma of Higher Education’ bearing the details of the awarded degree or qualification along with the specialization. Graduate also can receive a Diploma Supplement, which makes it possible to obtain equivalence in foreign countries for further studies or employment.
Saratov State Medical University is one of the oldest medical universities in Russia and the first university in Saratov. The University was established in 1909 by the decree of the Russian Emperor Nicholas II. Being a prominent public figure, a talented surgeon and outstanding scientist, professor V. Razumovsky was appointed as a first rector of SSMU. Today, the University honorably bears his name.
